Why Ashley for NMUSD School Board?

Ashley has a strong belief in the exceptional potential of our Westside school communities and will continue to be a voice to advocate for what is needed to make each teacher and student feel supported, equipped, and empowered.

 Prior to joining the board in 2018, Ashley:

  • listened and participated in local neighborhood action teams

  • facilitated 40+ school staff appreciation meals

  • trained and placed 100+ classroom volunteers

  • cared for those experiencing homelessness at the Check-In Center

  • advocated for undocumented families

  • taught students from preschool to college

  • hosted and taught neighborhood ESL classes

  • led parenting education and advocacy trainings            

She has been an asset to many parents who did not feel included in district decision-making. She also worked closely alongside school-community facilitators, and continues to champion more dual immersion options.

Ashley has dedicated countless hours to helping our Costa Mesa school communities and families. As a community member, she:

  • Created and led the Education Initiative for a local nonprofit for several years

  • Continues to serve on the Board of Directors for the Newport-Mesa Schools Foundation

  • Was selected to join NMUSD's Redistricting Committee in 2017 

  • Dedicates time as a member of the CM Chamber of Commerce's Education Committee

  • Volunteered weekly with Mika CDC for over five years

  • Has partnered with Wilson St. Learning Center as an academic coach and advisor

  • Taught at Pomona Elementary as a reading support teacher through The Literacy Project Foundation

  • Deepened her understanding of district families' needs and collective impact in the NMUSD Community Alliance

  • Joined the NMUSD Kindergarten Readiness Taskforce to champion early childhood education opportunities

Ashley has proven she cares deeply for students. She has the leadership and educational experience to continue making a notable positive impact as a NMUSD School Board Trustee representing her hometown - Area 7, Westside Costa Mesa.
